Top 15 Show Openings

A great intro sequence can make or break a TV show. A lot of my favorites have some of the best intros of all time. Each one of these either has amazing visuals, a great soundtrack, or theme song, and gets you pumped for the upcoming episode. This is a wide range list and features dramas, crime, romance, to comedy sitcoms. I am excluding only word intros like most of the CW TV shows, like Riverdale, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries ex. Of course I had to do way too much research and now have way too many options to choose from. Here are my top intros to TV shows.

15. Marco Polo (2014-2016)

The intro made me fall in love with the show before I even started it. The visuals are amazing and the traditional music adds to the beautiful paintings as they draw on the page. 

14. Sailor Moon (1991-1997, 2014-2016)

I had to add both versions because they are amazing and both stand out. I have known the theme song since I was four, the snap shots of the show along with the music make it a great intro. This will always be one of my favorites. 

13. Friends (1994-2004)

One of the most iconic show openings of all time. Whichever season you watch you see the couch and them all partying on it while the theme song plays. The song made this intro everything and you always clap at the right times. Never miss the opening. 

12. Big Bang Theory (2007-)

Another great sitcom opening. It's fast paced like the show, and gives you a run through history in a matter of seconds. I love singing the intro as it plays and have to give a big bang once it ends. 

11. Fresh Prince of Bel Air (1990-1996)

Admit it, you know every word to this song. The theme song makes the whole intro, it's fantastic and still iconic twenty years later. Shows need to go back to intros like this. 

10. Kim Possible (2002-2007)

Best Disney show theme song and opening. I have known this by heart since it came out and it will always be one of my favorite songs. The opening shows her adventures and makes you want to go on one yourself. Forever a great opening. 

9. Sons of Anarchy (2008-2014)

The visuals of seeing each tattoo come off the characters body to show the actors name is cool and unprecedented. The music is what makes this intro memorable though, it shows the hard life that they all face and also gives a glimpse of what is to come in the show. 

8. House (2004-2012)

A small intro can make the best kinds. The visuals are stunning and with the added music to this hospital show it gives it everything you ever wanted. It stands out from all the others and you just want to keep watching it over again.

7. Outlander (2014-)

Each season the intro song changes with the direction of the show. With season one being in Scotland, to then season 2 in France, and season 3 in the Caribbean. The music is beautiful and a great song on its own, but the beautiful scenery and visual make this an amazing intro. Cannot wait for what season 4 brings. 

6. Avatar the Last Airbender (2005-2008)

We all know I know this by heart. Even though it is only a monologue it shows the how the show came to be. It's a prologue in itself and with the added visuals it gives a glimpse of the past and maybe even the future. 

5. Sex and the City (1998-2004)

This one shows New York city in its finest. The jazz opening moves you along the city as the show is all about love, sex, friendship, and New York. I hum along to the jazz as the intro plays and this intro makes me want to go to the city so bad. 

4. True Blood (2008-2014)

This is a weird one but fits perfectly with this show. The visuals are stunning but very graphic as it shows life, death, sex, religion and rebirth. The song makes each part better and I never skip it while watching because its a damn good intro. 

3. CSI (All of them) 

My favorite is CSI; Miami, but all of them use The Who songs so of course they are going to be fantastic. But the intro to Miami is that scream and it goes to cool crime investigating and the music fits so well. This is with every version and they will always be fantastic opening. 

2. Mad Men (2007-2015)

This whole intro sequence tells you the whole plot of the show, but doing it in a eloquent matter. The visuals stand out by themselves as a beautiful master piece, then you have a silhouette falling and its representational of the whole show. The music gives it a flare and makes you want more. This was almost number one, an iconic intro.

1. Game of Thrones (2011-2019)

We all saw this coming right. First of the music is amazing and I love it. Second the visuals are cool, and then, third we have amazing graphics that depict the show and it is a live map of Westeros. No intro can beat this master piece and the evolving of each season showing who is in power and who is dead. I only added the first three seasons but I love during season six you have Winterfell being occupied by the Boltons then after one episode the intro changes back to Stark and you jump in excitement. Best intro of all time.
